Lamok kun Ting-uwan
Kun ikaw makasupsup,
hastang tagbawa
lupig pang puya
na perting tagbawa
Og ako mahinayak,
tanang posisyon buhaton
makita ko lang
na ikaw natidhaya na.

Brute, Dagan!
Marjorie Calar
It
was past midnight when Susan and I drove our way home from a funeral wake. Wanting to be home before three, Susan drove
fastly but a sudden explosion happened. I checked out the car and saw that the
tire had burst out. Since there was no signal in the place, we can’t find help
but then an old man approached and gave us two free tickets to stay in his own
private resort. Tired and sleepy, we gratefully accepted the tickets and
followed his lead to the resort.
Reaching the resort, it was already 3:05
A.M and as we were about to thank the old man, a woman with a toe-length hair, dressed
in all white greeted us and brought us to our room. We felt strange but the
more terrifying moment was when we opened the window, a man as tall as the
coconut tree with thick beard and hairy feet was walking towards us blowing off
his smoke. Our bodies jerked but never move – even an inch. With his smolder, we
felt dizzy and fainted.
Then the next time we knew, we were
already on the top of the mango tree and wondered whether it was a reality or a
nightmare.

The Dipper
Marjorie Calar
You can find me in every Filipino homes.
For decades, I’ve been giving the best
in me
that even aliens want.
Treated me as party-essential.
Used me to pour something out
and most importantly for your body.
But if I am such functional,
why be hidden in this small corner?
and never be flaunted outside?
or maybe I should shut thy mouth and
just wait to be used again.

Aroma
Marjorie Calar
I’m
best served
at cold nights
My
aroma
makes
you go crazy
that
whenever you sip
my
smooth and creamy texture
this
would still remain at your tongue.
I
just wish that if I turn cold,
you
will not turn your back at me because
I’ll
always be your coffee that will keep you awake all night.
STC, a Delegate to the Prestigious 16th National Ayala Young Leaders Congress
A consistent Dean’s lister, a
two-term JEO EXECOM, a Zarzuela Director and Cebu City Youth South District
Councilor— Raphael Renz Unabia has been chosen as a participant to the 16th
National Ayala Young Leaders Congress to be held in Malvar, Batangas on
February 10 – 13, 2015.
Out of 165 participants who were
interviewed last November 20, 2014 in Makati, Manila, a pride of St. Theresa’s
College has made it to represent the school for the upcoming AYLC. The AYLC is
youth leadership development program launched in 1998 by the Ayala group of
companies as a strategic investment in the youth and in the future of the
country. It intends to build the participants’ confidence and hone leadership
skills. “It also gives us an opportunity to make programs for the betterment of
the country like coastal clean-up program and to reach out public school
students by donating books and facilities to them”, he added.
Just like any other students, he has
experienced ups and downs before having this achievement. One of which is not
being able to take a major exam which he regards important in a student’s life.
Another thing that made feel like giving up is that he allot a lot of time
revising the application form rather
that spending it with his family and studying his lessons but the good thing is
that he has a supportive family. “I am really thankful to have a family who is
always there to understand and care for me and also the Administrators, Faculty
and staff who helped me in this journey” Among those who helped him are Sr.
Rosiana Mendoza, ICM, College Dean; Ms. Judith Dabon, JEO Program Head; Mme.
Carmela Samar, SAO Head; Ms. Rechel Tupas, Students’ Activity Head; Ms.
Donnavel Libon, Psychology Facilitator and Ms. Jo Anne Ramos, CSC President S.Y
2014-2015.
As of now, he has been preparing for
two big events, the Congress and his plan of running the presidency. “AYLC is not just the end of the journey, it opens
for a greater opportunity to come in and help others. It made me realize that
there is more that I can help and that is to run as a CSC President. I have
many worthy and interesting plans for this council because I do believe that
with great responsibility, comes great power.” he said.
